Australian gas
The Australian gas market is an emerging energy market in Australia. The physical gas market has developed more slowly than the electricity market, and as a consequence the gas financial markets also lag behind the electricity financial markets.
Victorian gas futures first traded on the Sydney Futures Exchange as recently as July 2009. The other states of Australia are yet to have the mechanisms and structure required for a similar market.
Gas will be at the forefront of Australia's emissions reduction plans. With other states soon to join and future linkages to international markets through (for example through imminent LNG expansion), Ignition Energy Investments will be there to grow with it.
